Immediately some minds went to scripture and that's understandable; rightfully so. However, this is more on an out-of-the box level. The word "upper" is not used simply for directional purposes. We want you to be elevated in every area of YOU. The vision is to breathe life back into an anemic church; that is, each one of us. The concept is to create an upscale gospel platform for individuals to speak life one to another by sharing in the gifts and talents bestowed upon us for edification through spoken word, song, mime, comedy, rap, monologues and many other avenues.
The mission of The Upper Room is to provide a consistent, modern day atmosphere where a conversion experience takes place for all involved; spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically; helping people from all walks of life to be rejuvenated, inspired, and uplifted in ways outside of the norm. Here, we want to provide you with a conducive atmosphere, a stable platform, and an eclectic variety of sounds for you to freely express and share who you are. The target audience is like-minded and mature people who want to be and do more to better themselves and increase the awareness of who God is and how He affects our lives in a non-traditional environment. We are walking boldly, taking risks, and not settling for mediocrity. With that being said, these are the thoughts we hope you consider each and every time you experience The Upper Room:
- Spiritual - this is a bilateral relationship between you and God; He requires change but you must acknowledge, accept, and act.
- Mental - mindset, elevate your mind to higher thinking in every aspect of your life.
- Physical - take better care of your temple; be concerned about your health upgrade your attire, look how you want people to see you and not how you feel, you want to be taken seriously, dress the part.
- Emotional - stop being so sensitive and quick to judge; learn to love your brother/sister right where they are first, then figure out how and if you fit into their life; if so, what you can do to assist them; if not, leave nothing and take nothing away from them.
Would you like to sit back, calm your nerves, look good, and enjoy a great show? The Upper Room offers a classy, clean, upscale environment for you to do all of those things. There will be feature artists from right here in the Hampton Roads area taking the platform by storm to express themselves to you about who God is and what impact He has had on their lives. We will have what we call "spotlight" moments throughout the course of the night where audience members will have an opportunity to take the stage and do the same; share with everyone who you are and what you have to offer to the world.
Here, we want you to only gain from all that takes place. Allow the words that are spoken and songs that are sung and music that is played to take you to a better place. A place of healing. A place of joy. A place of refreshing. A place of empowerment. A place of inspiration. Whatever it is that you need a boost of, that is what we hope you attain from your brothers and sisters who just want to share the love of God with you and not physically embrace you, but connect with you on another level.
